Creature ˢ

A trilingual children’s book written by Ana Figueiredo. The story follows a creature who is afraid of the world but wants to belong, moving through a universe of strange beings, difference, fear and acceptance. Conceived as a kind of Halloween fairy tale, the book combines tenderness and unease: its creatures are not there simply to frighten, but to question what makes something seem strange, lovable, excluded or familiar.

About the illustration

The illustrations combine traditional ink drawing on paper with digitally produced images created in Procreate. Dense linework, texture and high contrast were used to build the visual identity of the book, creating a world populated by witches, skeletons, animals and hybrid creatures. Although visually dark at times, the drawings maintain a playful and accessible tone, balancing gothic humour with narrative clarity.
